WHY Sponsors? and WHO to recruit

Thank you for participating in the Break the Cycle Run/Walk to help end the cycle of foster care. We anticipate it being quite a fun, light-hearted, and family friendly event!

This event is meant to do two things: raise awareness and raise funding.

  1. Awareness is the first step in helping vulnerable children and YOU are quite literally taking the first step to raise that awareness. Run on!

  2. All proceeds from this event will go to help foster families foster longer and stronger. Data shows that with a caring community around them, foster families foster longer and are able to sustain their foster license longer. Welcomed provides that much-needed wraparound support.

So, how can you help now that you are committed to run or walk this course?

Raise up sponsors to support you as you challenge yourself to run/walk as many laps as you can!

How do I get started? Three easy steps:

Step 1: Set a fundraising goal.

  • Goal example: run/walk 3 miles and find 10 people to sponsor me at $5 per mile

  • Goal example: walk for one hour and raise $1 per lap from each of my committed sponsors

  • Goal example: raise $200 and run/walk at my leisure

Step 2: Ask people to sponsor you to reach that goal.

  • Post to your social media

  • Send an old fashioned letter or a full-on email

  • Follow Welcomed on Facebook and Instagram and share our posts, adding your own call for sponsors

Step 3: Direct your sponsors to Welcomed’s crowdfunding page to donate on your behalf.

All the resources you need for these three easy steps are below. Support letter templates, social media images, links, and more!

Suggested Timeline
